This project, and also this year, are at the halfway point!  I've missed a couple of weeks (last week included), but this project has been the best.  I spend the end of every week looking at all the lovely images other moms all over the world have captured of their young ones... and they all make me smile.   My favorites from last week include Lily slip 'n sliding and Astrid's sleeping angel.  

As for mine, here are my monkeys playing in the trees.  Ah, summer time is here!  

This was one of my favorite past times as a child, so I'm pleased to see that Claudia has taken it up too.  She spent about two hours sitting in this tree and ate about five bananas over the course of those two hour.  Summer dinner and dessert!

This little guy could sit in his swing for hours as well.  No bananas required.  I just have to be careful he doesn't fall asleep in there, because he is not a happy camper when I have to wake him up to take him out.  =)

Hop on Pop

We celebrated Father's Day by giving Daddy a shiny new bike and going out on a family bike ride together.   Once every McLendon can ride comfortably and I am confident that no one is in danger of crashing, I will take a camera along and get some action shots.   As the day progressed, we celebrated by reading (Claudia's favorite), throwing the children in the air (Paddy's favorite) and everyone piling on Daddy (family favorite).   I am confident that Daddyboy thoroughly enjoyed his day.

My favorites from last week were Harper in the sun and Sawyer in the shade and couldn't get enough of Ingrid Lerstad's happy little guy.

Time to go to bed... because we need to get up early to make lots of pancakes for father's day.  Happy Father's Day, Daddyboy!

High Waters

Thankfully the waters of the Danube have finally started to recede.  I think you can hear a collective sigh of relief throughout the city.  Other parts of Hungary and many surrounding countries were not so lucky, though.  We walked along the river on Saturday to survey the river.

You can make out where the road should be from the signs that normally flank both sides.

The trams along the river shut down because some of the tracks went underwater.   It was still strange to see people strolling on the abandoned tracks.

Thankfully, the water stayed put and is now receding.  It was close to reaching Chain Bridge.  Too close.

This one also did a bit of bug catching / hunting (mostly just hunting) last weekend.

Curls and smiles for days.

As for Paddy and his curls.  I can't bring myself to cut it, so maybe at the end of the summer.  Maybe.  Hope everyone's week is off to a running start!  I thought I posted this yesterday, so not much of a running start here.  =)

Meanwhile in Budapest...

This is where the sidewalk (and street) end.  The Danube is spilling over its banks and onto the streets.  Like most children in the city, Claudia was cautiously curious.   Here is hoping the sun holds up and there is no more rain.     

Paddy.  I can dress him up, but I can't keep him clean.  =)   He was all spiffed up for a party and within a few minutes of playing outside he was scraped up, muddy and eating a bun he had drug through the dirt.  Paddy, Paddy, Paddy.  And no haircut yet... I just can't.

Troubled Water, Teething, T-Rex and a Telescope

We have been pretty lazy here this week.   Save for the Danube River reaching it's highest point in the over a century, there is nothing noteworthy to report.  The streets around the river have already started flooding and the river isn't supposed to peak until Saturday night. Not good.  Not good at all.  =(

This poor guy finally finished teething (I think?) this week.

He still nibbles on our fingers, though.  We are trying to show him its no fun to be bitten, but he thinks it is so funny.

Skyping with Gram is also funny.  =)

She's a "dinosaur" and she's "hunting" me (observe the tiny T Rex arms drawn up).

We made a book wall.  I saw it on Pinterest and its great.  We never have to search for the favorites and Patrick is even picking books off the bottom row and flipping through them.

He found the tiniest little puddle on the whole street, which is good, because we still haven't gotten this poor child any rain boots.  

I still haven't figured out what that is or where it came from.  It made a decent telescope, though.

Paddy had no rain pants or boots and was completely covered with mud (even his little nostrils), but didn't fuss one bit ... until I carried him back inside for bath time.  =)

Wind blown curls.  I love them.  I hope you never lose your sweet curls, Claudia.  They just make you, you.

As for this guy's curls... this will be the last we see of them for a while.  We are getting a haircut this week!  First ever!!  I hope it goes ok.  =)
