Bop was excited to dye eggs this year. Funny though, she wouldn't call it "dyeing eggs" because it sounded like we were going to "kill" the eggs. We called it "coloring eggs" instead. |

Bop: "Why are we using that [vinegar]? It stinks! It smells like toots!" |

Toot smell aside, she was pleased with the final product. |

This guy took his sweet time and managed to get one egg. And that was enough for him. |

This was the moment he thought Claudia was about to take the one egg. |

Chocolate (and hugs from Dad) fixes everything. |

Sweet moment with my boy. |
Lastly, we made the best deviled eggs. So easy, so good, so I will share: Bacon and Onion Deviled Eggs*
Ingredients:
8 hard boiled eggs, cut in half lengthwise
3 strips thick cut bacon, cooked and crumbled
2 tablespoons sour cream (you can use mayo if you like) 2 tablespoons Dijon mustard 1 tablespoon finely minced green onion salt pepper
paprika
Directions: Place the yolks in a small bowl and mash with a potato masher. Add the sour cream and mustard. Mash until smooth. Stir in bacon, onion, salt and pepper, evenly distributing in the egg mixture. Divide evenly among the halves. Sprinkle top of eggs with paprika.
*adapted from Rachel Rappaport's Bacon and Shrimp Deviled Eggs (which would have also been fabulous, had I had any shrimp).
Hope everyone has had a wonderful Easter!

Happy Easter Lovelies!
ReplyDeleteClaudia, you have the cutest piggie tails.
Patrick, I hope you enjoyed those treats!!!
Mmmmm, treats!
I have been laughing so much at the picture of poor Patrick with tin foil in his mouth! :o) I just love the concentration on Claudia's face too! We have never dyed eggs before, I will have to give that a go next year as it looks like fun. We opted for inside and outside hunt this year, the sun was shining a little, but still so cold! I hope you have all had the most lovely Easter :) xx
ReplyDeletePatrick is so mad at you on that pic. Hilarious! Love the stinky vinegar face too. An added icky factor with Hungarian easter eggs is the natural "poo" and feathers speckling them, wouldn't you say? ;)
ReplyDeleteSee you next week. Hugs!
Oh my gosh, those devilled eggs DO sound good! Mmmmm... Bacon! Love the chocolate face photos - it's funny how amusing babies sad/mad faces can be!
ReplyDeleteLove that she worried about "killing" the eggs by dyeing them. Looks like coloring the eggs was successful and fun!
ReplyDeleteummm....hello gorgeous!!! so glad to find you. xx
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely easter celebration. I love the "coloured" eggs. My almost three year old is known for eating small eggs paper and all - there is always an urgent need around chocolate!
ReplyDeleteYour eggs turned out so cute! And look at those babies, how adorable!!! Have a great day pretty girl :)
